Desert Elopement Styled Shootout

I’ve been wanting to plan a styled shootout for photographers for a while.

I was seeing a lot of really beautiful shoots in the mountains and forests, but nothing that was desert-themed. I decided to plan a shootout for photographers to offer them something different than what I was typically seeing. Oregon has such varied, beautiful landscapes, from beaches to painted hills to towering forests and golden coastlines. But I wanted to create a desert elopement styled shootout at a unique location.

I decided on the perfect location, with a dry desert vibe and muted tones. I teamed up with Maria from Floral Design by Maria, and she created the most amazing wedding florals! She took her inspiration from the desert, and incorporated roses, dried textures, and greenery to create beautiful modern arrangements. The table centerpiece, triangle arch and bridal bouquet turned out so amazing and aligned perfectly with our vision for the shoot.

Daniel + Roni modelled for us and were so sweet and cute together! The shoot just happened to be super close to their 1 year wedding anniversary. They drove all the way out to our location and helped set everything up. The intimate table setting had floor seating, complete with pillows, a rug, and beautiful place settings with the centerpiece created by Maria.

Once we had the shoot area and decor set up, the other photographers arrived.  They were all amazing and so excited for the shoot! We started shooting at sunset to get that perfect, dreamy golden hour glow. The photographers were so chill and we spent the evening dancing and jamming to tunes while we took photos. Daniel and Roni were electric together, and the dress on Roni looked so perfect in the wild wind. We continued to shoot until dusk, and every person there was such a good sport and so pumped! Once the sun went down, we packed up and all grabbed Taco Bell, of course. ;)

We hung out at Taco Bell for over an hour, and shared our experiences and photography journeys over yummy, delish fast food. It was the perfect end to a perfect evening!

It was so fun to see everyone’s finished photos afterward, because everyone’s work looked completely different. It’s so cool to see how different perspectives can be captured to make work look so unique, even when it’s the same setting and couple.

Styled shootouts for photographers are a great way to get more content, try something new and creative, network with other people in the industry, and make new friends.

I’ll be planning more styled shoots in the future!
